Die Aufnahmen und die Komposition entstanden im Zusammenhang mit einer persönlichen Reise der Komponistin nach Mexiko. Mit einer Keramik-Flöte und dem Tagebuch ihres Vaters im Gepäck flog sie nach Yucatán und spielte dort in den Ruinen der Tempelanlage von Yaxunah und auch für die Menschen im Dorf. Der Titel 'Ch'íich' bedeutet in Mayan Vogel.

The recordings and the composition were created in connection with the composer's personal trip to Mexico. With a ceramic flute and her father's diary in her luggage, she flew to Yucatán and played there in the ruins of the temple complex of Yaxunah and also for the people in the village. The title ‘Ch'íich’ means bird in Mayan.
